The much-loved library on Antrim Grove may be closed
Belsize Library on Antrim Grove is under serious threat of closure by Camden’s Labour administration, despite it having 50,000 visitors a year. This would be a huge blow to the many residents. The library is popular across age ranges, being particularly valued by the elderly, parents with small children, and students. It is even possible that the library would be sold to developers to raise funds!
PLEDGE
The Belsize Lib Dems are pledging to defend the library…
“We may be able to find a way to stave off the closure” says Belsize Cllr Tom Simon, “while I’d like Camden to keep funding the library, pushing the Council to transfer the asset to a community organisation is probably our best chance. I’d like to hear any ideas from residents and community groups – working together will be crucial to any solution”.
Chalcot resident Lesley Perkins said “I have two small children and find the library really useful, particularly the Rhyme Time sessions on Tuesday mornings. It would be a great loss to the community if it closed”.
Any thoughts or ideas? Would you like to help save the library? Please get in touch with Cllr Tom Simon on 07810654892 or tom@belsizelibdems.org.uk
