Labour-run Camden have replaced the ‘Local Area Forums’ with ‘Area Action Groups’. Aside from a new name, the only real difference is that your ward councillors receive less support in setting them up and the meetings no longer have the annual £10k budget to spend locally.

Still, we have made the best of the situation. The first meeting of what can be called the ‘Belsize Action Group’ was held on Tuesday 7th December at Belsize Library on Antrim Grove. Councillors shared information about the cuts facing Camden, about transport issues affecting the area and about local markets. We had Averil Nottage from the Belsize Residents Association and Richard Williams from Camden discuss the recent French Market on Haverstock Hill.  A lively debate was held on each of these subjects. We hope it was an informative and constructive experience for all those who came. The next meeting will be on Tuesday 1st February at 7.30pm. Watch this space for more information.
